Jupiter has spent the last 13 months in its home sign of Sagittarius. He’s most happy here. Able to explore, expand, gaining wisdom through experience and inquiry. During this time we may have changed our perspectives on some things. Perhaps we’ve moved or done a bit more traveling than usual. New opportunities may have opened up. We may have decided to commit to a form of higher education or even recently graduated. Jupiter is ruled by Sagittarius; Sag. Sun and Rising signs feel the impact of Jupiter’s movements most. Since he’s been in Sag., Pisces, Gemini’s and Virgo’s have also been feeling the tension and expansion of growth and change.
On December 2nd Jupiter will be leaving his home sign and moving into the less familiar terrain of Capricorn until December 2, 2020. Jupiter was last in Capricorn in 2008, so think back to that point in time and what was occuring. You may be revisiting similar themes and moving into a new level of commitment in that area of your life.
Jupiter/Sag and Capricorn are inherently opposite. Where Jupiter expands, Capricorn contracts. Where Juniper grows through freedom and exploration, Capricorn matures through responsibility and commitment. Where Jupiter is inherently optimistic and playful, Capricorn is inherently realistic and serious. Where Jupiter typically lucky and life flows a little more easily, Capricorn is typically met with limitations and challenges.
These two only play nice when Jupiter gives in to creating some roots and focus, and Capricorn loosens its need for control and opens to optimism. The two can come together and create profound changes in both inner and outer worlds. When they learn to get along, they can balance each other out, providing one another with qualities the other is lacking. If we’re not careful however, this time can feel like a mix of confusion as Jupiter desires freedom and Capricorn aches for stability. We may also find that circumstances and limitations are keeping us from the freedom we long for. Finding a way to get both these needs met over the next 12 months is our goal.
While Jupiter is in Capricorn, obviously Capricorn Sun and Rising signs will be feeling this most, along with the other cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, and Libra. Jupiter will be creating tension with planets and points in these signs as well as opposing the North Node in Cancer, and mingling with the Saturn/Pluto Conjunction towards the end of next year. We may find new opportunities in work and family opening up. We may see our identity changing as our relationships and circumstances change and encourage us to expand beyond who we thought we were.
This coming year is about initiating change towards a future goal of stability and freedom. Jupiter in Capricorn reminds us that we’ve held onto stuck and stagnant places or perspectives for too long and it’s hindered our growth and maturity. We have to look out for dogmatic perspectives and grandiose thinking that limits our ability to grow and have compassion and understanding for another’s situation or point of view. Jupiter can also stay stuck in one of mode of thinking and Capricorn may only cement this mindframe.
Now it’s time for change. Time to shake things up just a little and help us loosen our grip on a reality that hasn’t been working for us, in whatever area of life that may be. Spend time in these first couple months writing out a new story for yourself. A new chapter of life that you want to manifest. What’s your 5 and 10 years plan? Jupiter spins ideas into reality through words, and Capricorn will help bring form to the vision that Jupiter holds. You can make big changes this year if you stay focused and commit to your vision!
